Last weekend in Thailand (for now)

Since it's my last weekend in Thailand I had to, of course, go to the weekend market.  I discovered a whole new corner where, I think, they were having some sort of BINGO competition.  Or that was the only word I could understand at least.

I tried a new coconut dessert, coconut cream and palm sugar with slivers of coconut the shape and texture of gummy worms floating around.  Served hot.  Very sweet, very rich... not sure I need it again.

Yesterday I rode over to the bus station to investigate my trip to Penang.  I stopped at a temple that I had seen when I first arrived (but didn't visit because I had my huge bag and was exhausted)

The gold in the stairs made them gleam
in the sun

I discovered an overgrown path leading up to many more grave markers and a small chedi in the woods.

I stopped for lunch at a new vegetarian restaurant in Phuket Town and had a delicious green curry, fried rice, some type of greens and a coconut juice... all for 40 baht.  I love cheap food.

I discovered another local market as well with lots of interesting food products.  I picked up some fresh coconut milk which I had for breakfast this morning (I think I prefer the soy milk).

I ended the weekend with popcorn from the market and an indie flick.
