I met a nice group of people at the gym, mostly Aussies (apparently that's the largest group here). Last weekend was the opening of a new bar down the street and also a couple of people's birthdays so we all went down to celebrate.
The bar was holding a barbecue with lots of Thai dishes and I helped out in the kitchen with food prep and dishwashing. It was fun, but I don't think being a sous chef is anywhere in my future! We made skewers, papaya salad, curry, pork fried rice and a couple vegetable salads. I felt like we were on one of those restaurant shows, we had to send someone out to get a few ingredients and the grill which was supposed to be delivered earlier in the day only just made it as we were finishing prepping the skewers.
The kitchen was crowded with all of us rushing to get the food ready |

I got to set off my first paper lantern! The owners had a few that we lit for good luck and to celebrate the occasion.
