Moving day

I can't believe I've been here a month already!  I packed everything up this morning and moved out of Malin Residence which was convenient but has a pretty high daily rate.  I am definitely regretting packing so much, especially during the 2.5 mile walk from Malin to my new hostel!
I ended up stopping at Free Bird for lunch and a delicious almond milk shake.
I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in, she gave me a discount, so it's only 100 baht / night.  Not the lowest around, but the dorm room is nice and there are lockers to secure my valuables so I'm happy about that.  There are only three other people in my room right now, Jenny, an ex-English teacher from  England, a girl from Taiwan whose name I've forgotten and a guy who I haven't met.
I had to do some laundry, most importantly my sleep sack, so after I got my things settled and took a shower, I headed out.  I found a nearby guesthouse with a washer and dryer and then decided I'd get dinner while I waited.  My new place is really close to the Thae Pae gate and in a touristy / backpacker type area.  I ended up at a Mexican restaurant I saw the other day and had fresh guacamole and a great burrito while listening to The Beatles blasting from the stereo.
On my way back there was some kind of fire somewhere and it was smokey for several blocks.

The smoke was coming up through sidewalk grates.
I still had time to kill before my laundry was done so I went to a salon up the street and got a pedicure, hot pink!
