I had my first Lok Lok at this food truck and it was delicious! You choose from about 30 different kinds of skewers: meat, vegetables, even tofu.
The skewers are color coded, each color is assigned a price. I had broccoli, something that looked like baby bok choi and tofu.
You cook the skewers in a pot of boiling water built into the truck. And then choose your sauce: sweet chili, spicy chili and peanut.
Some of the other vendors were selling things like spices, teas, and pastries, including various durian goods.
A lot of the tables looked very boutiquey with prices to match. It felt like being at an arts and crafts fair.
Unusual goods included ear candles...
Stingray...
And some ridiculous contraption to give you the much desired double eyelid (this is worse than skin whitening I think).
The best part of fresh coconuts is scooping out the meat after you've finished drinking the juice!
Popiah is sort of like a cross between a spring roll and a burrito.
Radish cake... didn't try this. I saw a sign for carrot cake one day, assuming it was like carrot cake at home, but then he showed me how he makes it of large solid white squares of (radish?), and fries it in a large wok.
Nasi Lemak, another local dish, simple but yummy. And wow was that sauce spicy!
I'm not sure what this restaurant serves that is in such high demand, but the line is incredible!
